Photography Truths – Part 4

So here are some more photography truths. I did not realize it, but there were more than I thought. I started making a list one day and then I just sort of kept going. If you missed the previous lists you can find them here; Part 1, Part 2 Part 3. The idea behind these is to help artists stop and reflect on their craft. It always a good idea to periodically get off of automatic and to question what you are doing, what you have done, why you are doing it, and where you would like to go. If you would like to read some more information about becoming or being an artist you can refer to ‘Following the Path or Not‘ and ‘Finding Your Own Artistic Style‘.

You don’t just wake up one day and decide that you are an artist. I think that being an artist has little to do with producing artwork and more to do with a state of mind and how you see the world. A true artist sees the world in a different way from a different angle. In the case of photography this can be a more literal interpretation, but there are plenty of artists out there that have never lifted a brush, or held some clay, or used a camera. Think of the artistic nature of any entrepreneur. Don’t obsess over this stuff. Just read it, absorb it, think about it, and let it go. You can’t force creativity or brilliance, so don’t try.
